Dating apps in your 50s and 60s are a mixed bag. At 59, I’ve tried a few...some of the usual suspects like Hinge and Bumble, plus some niche ones. I’ve had a small handful of interesting connections, but honestly, a lot of it feels transactional or shallow.
I’ve also explored different kinds of companionship beyond traditional dating, like platonic cuddle apps, because for me, closeness and trust matter as much (if not more) than “chasing romance.” I’ve found that navigating these spaces takes patience...you run into people who aren’t clear about what they want, or you find good connections that fizzle fast.
I’m curious, what’s been your experience? Have you actually met someone worthwhile through apps? Do you think they work better for midlife guys if we approach them differently, or is it mostly a numbers game?
